Eden Naureckas

Eden is a junior from New York City majoring in sociology with minors in psychology and Children’s Studies. She is passionate about social justice and community engagement, volunteers with infants in downtown St. Louis, and harvests tomatoes at the on-campus community garden. She also enjoys watching movies, hosting dinner parties, and coffee with oat milk.

What brought you to The Writing Center?

I believe that writers of any level can benefit from feedback and was excited to discover The Writing Center freshman year as a place to bring in my own assignments. I aligned with the values, culture, and people here so much I decided to apply. 

What do you like about working with writers in The Writing Center?

I love seeing how different writers’ brains work and learning about all the topics they’ve written about. It’s also very rewarding to see writers come in stressed out and leave feeling ready to take on their assignment. 

What challenges you most about writing?

I can get caught up in my own ideas and forget to slow down and see things from other perspectives. It really helps to have other writers read my work and tell me when things could be spelled out better for the audience.

What advice do you have for writers?

I think outlines are a big help, even though it seems like a waste of time. Also, anyone can be a writer, regardless of your major or discipline.
