Chenxi is a PhD candidate in the Department of History. Her dissertation investigates how various types of travel impacted the institution of slavery in early modern China. Her teaching interests cover East Asian civilizations, world history, the history of gender and sexuality, and English composition. As an English writer whose first language is Chinese, she understands people’s struggle with expressing ideas in their secondary language and is committed to serving a diverse group of students, particularly international students. In her free time, Chenxi spends time with her family and makes food by using ancient recipes.
