Esei Murakishi is a doctoral candidate in English at Washington University in St. Louis. A former Fulbright Fellow, he holds BA (summa cum laude) from Rice University, an MA from Syracuse University, and an MA from WUSTL. His dissertation argues that Renaissance conceptions of poetry derive, in part, from Reformation conceptions of scripture. His first article, “Thomas More’s Account of Natural Language and the Literariness of his Polemics,” was published in MLQ.
