Lorraine is a PhD candidate in the anthropology department and studies the cultural diversification of early pastoralists in East Africa roughly 3000-1000 years ago. She is broadly interested in examining changes in both settlement-based and funerary practice during this period of population movement. Her dissertation focuses on the materiality of memory and the reconstruction of cremation processes through the integration of sediment and osteological analyses. Her past fieldwork locations include Kenya, Zambia, Israel, and the US.
