Did you know The Writing Center & Speaking Studio regularly support faculty, staff, and post-docs with their writing and public speaking? We offer services to support both your and your students’ writing and public speaking projects.
Support for Your Writing and Public Speaking
We support faculty, staff, and post-docs working on any writing or public-speaking project including manuscripts, grant proposals, conference presentations, application materials, or personal projects. We can work with you at any stage from brainstorming to reviewing a draft or practicing a presentation.
Support is free and available via one-on-one appointments. Contact us if you have any trouble finding what you’re looking for.
Support for Your Students
We are available to support your students via one-on-one writing and public-speaking appointments as well as custom-designed workshops for your course or program.
One-on-One Support for Your Students
To ensure the greatest accessibility, we continue to offer both in-person and online one-on-one writing and public-speaking support. Students can make their own appointments via our home page, and we also welcome walk-ins on weekdays (our evening and weekend appointments are online and therefore by appointment only). For undergraduates, we offer weekly walk-in hours on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons after fall break and spring break.
As a reminder, our center serves all undergraduate and graduate students on any writing or public-speaking project, whether at the brainstorming/planning stage or at the revision stage.
If you have concerns about a particular student and would like to connect them with us directly, please put them in touch with Jo Ell, Undergraduate Support Coordinator, or Kate Harnish, Graduate Support Coordinator. We also encourage you to include information regarding our services in your syllabi.
Custom Workshops for Your Course or Program
In addition to our one-on-one appointments, we are available to custom build workshops and presentations on writing and public-speaking topics and skills. We will meet with you to learn more about your target audience and what you’re looking for and custom-build a workshop to suit your course/program, assignments, and goals. Workshops and presentations can take place in-person or virtually. We are also available to do a short presentation on our services if you’d like us to speak with your students directly.
