Derick is a PhD candidate on the track for international writers in comparative literature. A translator of contemporary Turkish poetry, his work has received support from the British Centre for Literary Translation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Banff International Literary Translation Centre. His hybrid dissertation focuses on the genre of the long poem and its travels through translation, Turkish poetics, and world literature. In his spare time, he finds himself torn between sci-fi reruns and British sketch comedy.
