What brought you to The Writing Center?
I didn’t always love writing and I understand the dread that comes with large writing assignments for a lot of students. I decided to become a peer tutor to help other students work through these struggles and find the joy in writing.
What do you like most about working with writers in The Writing Center?
I love seeing someone’s ideas fall into place! It is so cool to watch a writer walk in with unorganized thoughts and leave with so much more clarity and confidence in their plan, even though all the ideas are their own.
What do you find most challenging about writing?
I often get caught up in where I know my ideas are going, and I forget to slow down and bring the reader along with me. I try to combat this by free-writing first in order to track my own thought process and identify what someone else might need to follow as well.
What advice do you have for writers?
Just put something down! You can edit it later, but writing literally anything will give you more momentum than staring at a blank page.
